In a commendable effort to promote education and empower young girls, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the commencement of registration for the Single Girl Child Scholarship 2023, along with the renewal of the Single Girl Child Scholarship 2022 for the year 2023.

CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme Application Period:

The application window for eligible candidates opens on September 19, 2023, and will remain accessible until October 18, 2023. It’s important to note that the CBSE will accept applications exclusively through its official website, and no offline submissions or hard copies of documents will be entertained.

CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • They should be single girl children of Indian nationality.
  • They must be studying in CBSE-affiliated schools.
  • They should have achieved a minimum of 60 percent marks in their Class 10 examination in the first five subjects.
  • Even NRI applicants studying in CBSE-affiliated schools can apply for the scholarship, with the condition that they will not be entitled to a tuition fee exceeding ₹6,000 per month.
  • The candidate must be pursuing her education in Class 11 and 12 in CBSE-affiliated schools.
  • The monthly tuition fee should not exceed ₹1,500 in Class 10, and there should not be an increase of more than 10 percent in Class 11 and 12.

CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme Renewal:

The CBSE will review and renew the scholarship after the completion of one year, ensuring that students secure at least 50 percent marks in Class 11 and progress to Class 12.

CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme Verification Process:

The CBSE has also directed affiliated schools to participate in the verification process for students applying for the Girl Child Scholarship. This verification will take place from September 25, 2023, to October 25, 2023, on the official website of the board.

A CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme with a Purpose:

The CBSE initiated the Single Girl Child Scholarship Scheme in 2006 with the objective of providing financial support and encouragement to female students in their pursuit of education.

Under this scheme, eligible girl students will receive a scholarship of ₹500 per month. Additionally, the monthly tuition fees for Class 10 students should not exceed ₹1,500 per month.

To apply for the CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship, follow these steps:

  2. Click on ‘Single Girl Child Scholarship X-2023 REG.’
  3. Select the type of application, either ‘Refresh’ or ‘Upgrade.’
  4. Choose between ‘SGC-X Fresh Application’ or ‘Renewal.’
  5. Complete the application form and upload the required documents.
  6. Submit the scholarship application and download the confirmation.
