The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced coding and data science courses for students from class 6 onwards in all its affiliated schools. To create this syllabus, CBSE has partnered with Microsoft. Under this, coding will be started for class 6-8 and the data science course will be for class 8-12. These subjects will be introduced as skilling subjects from the academic year 2021-2022.
Union Education Minister gave information on social media
Regarding this, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said in a social media post, ‘Under NEP 2020, we had promised to introduce coding and data science in schools. Today, it is heartening to see CBSE fulfilling its promise in the 2021 session itself. CBSE in association with Microsoft is empowering the future generations of India with new-age skills.
Microsoft has prepared a supplementary handbook
For this, Microsoft has prepared Supplementary Handbook in Coding and Data Science according to NCERT Pattern and Structure. This handbook will give exposure to an open-source platform. This platform will enable students to learn better in all subjects including Maths, Language and Social Science.
Students will get help in learning for the future
CBSE Chairman Manoj Ahuja said, “We are living in a world which is more dependent on technology. It is imperative that we impart skills that will prepare students and teachers across the country to be successful in this digital world. This new course on Coding and Data Science, which we have developed in partnership with Microsoft, will help students learn for the future.
