NCERT CIET Announces Online Teacher Training Program
New Delhi: In a pivotal move to boost science education, NCERT’s Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET) has unveiled a comprehensive online training series titled “Developing eContent for Teaching and Learning of Science.”
Bridging the Gap Between Theoretical Science and Practical Applications
Traditional science education, with its focus on intricate concepts and phenomena, often falls short in offering engaging and dynamic tools to simplify complex ideas. This training series addresses this gap, emphasizing the use of interactive eContent to make scientific principles more relatable and accessible. The multimedia elements like videos, animations, and simulations integrated into eContent empower students to grasp these abstract concepts more vividly.
The Role of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS)
Beyond the multimedia components, the training emphasizes the importance of FOSS tools in eContent development. Tailored for education, these tools foster adaptability, allowing educators to integrate diverse multimedia elements effectively.
A Look at the Training Schedule and Features
Spanning five days, from September 25 to September 29, 2023, the training sessions are designed to give participants a holistic understanding of eContent development, especially in science education. Notable experts, ranging from university professors to NCERT officials, will be the resource persons for these sessions.
- Day 1: A deep dive into the need, concept, and scope of eContent in science teaching.
- Day 2: A walkthrough on the processes behind eContent creation.
- Days 3-5: In-depth sessions on eContent for Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, respectively.
